Pakistan Terrorism Attack: Pakistan has overtaken Afghanistan in terms of maximum terrorist attacks and deaths in South Asia. This claim has been made in the Annual Global Terrorism Index (GTI) report released by the Australia-based Institute for Economics and Peace.
BLA responsible for most deaths
According to the report, the number of deaths in Pakistan has registered a huge year-on-year increase since last decade. This is also at the forefront of the matter. At the same time, at least 55 percent of the victims related to terrorism were military personnel. It has climbed four places in the index to the sixth position due to a sharp jump in fatalities, the report said.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for 36 per cent of the deaths due to terrorism in Pakistan, which is nine times more than the previous year. The BLA has reportedly overtaken the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as the Pakistan Taliban.
TTP is the deadliest terrorist group in Pakistan. There has been a tremendous increase in the number of people killed in terrorist attacks carried out by the BLA. Last year, 7.7 people were killed in the attack of BLA, whereas a year ago this number was only 1.5. Most shockingly, of the 233 deaths linked to the BLA, 95 percent were military personnel.
Fear of terrorist organization in Pakistan
Luchistan Liberation Army (BLA) is claiming to fight for the independence of Balochistan province bordering Afghanistan and Iran. Pakistan, US and UK have declared both BLA and TTP as terrorist organizations. In February last year, two separate security posts for the Frontier Corps were bombed and fired upon in Pakistan.
BLA was also held responsible for this attack. He had killed 195 soldiers in both the attacks. The TTP, on the other hand, is carrying out terrorist attacks against Pakistani security forces in order to establish an Islamic Sharia-compliant state like the hardline Taliban in Afghanistan. In recent times Pakistan is in danger of terrorist organizations like BLA and TTP.
