Nepal Vice President: Ram Sahay Yadav elected as the third Vice President of Nepal, got bumper votes

Vice President of Nepal: Ram Sahai Yadav, leader of Madhes region of Nepal, was elected as the third Vice President of the country. The counting of votes for the post of Vice President was completed on Friday (March 17). Ram Sahay Yadav was supported by Nepal’s eight-party ruling coalition and defeated Aastha Lakshmi Shakya of the CPN-UML and Mamata Jha of the Janmat Party.

According to the news of ‘The Kathmandu Post’, the 52-year-old leader of the Janata Samajwadi Party got 30,328 votes from 184 federal and 329 provincial representatives. The Election Commission has not officially announced the results yet. The report said that in addition to his own party, representatives of the Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center and CPN-Unified Socialist voted in his favor.

Vice President Nand Bahadur will replace Pun 
The Kathmandu Post report further states that Shakya received the votes of 104 federal and 169 provincial deputies, while Jha received 23 federal and 15 provincial votes. Votes received from public representatives. Ram Sahai Yadav, a leader from the Madhes region, will replace outgoing Vice President Nand Bahadur Pun, whose term has come to an end.

Need 26,315 votes to win
The people of the Madhesi community living in the southern Terai region of Nepal are mostly people of Indian origin. The total value of the votes of 332 members of the Federal Parliament and 550 members of the Provincial Assemblies is 52,628. A candidate needs 26,315 votes to win. In the year 2008, Nepal adopted the federal democratic republic system, after which this is the third election for the post of Vice President. The term of the Vice President is five years.
