Maldives Support India in UNSC: India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar went on a tour of Maldives from 18 to 19 January. During this, he had discussed many important issues there. Its effect has also started showing. Maldives has decided to support India for a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in 2028-2029. For this, elections are going to be held in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) during the 81st session of the year 2027. The decision to support India’s non-permanent seat was taken during the visit of S Jaishankar from Maldives.
Maldivian Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that we have a strong relationship with India. We express our support for India. Our country’s mutual relations are dedicated to each other.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar calls on the President
India’s Foreign Minister Jaishankar met Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during his visit and held discussions with Foreign Affairs Minister Abdulla Shahid. The visit saw the signing of agreements on bilateral development support, apart from ground-breaking, inauguration and handover of several major Indian-aided projects contributing to the socio-economic development of Maldives. Jaishankar along with Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid inaugurated the Indian-financed community center at Phoki Dhoo.
