This classical dancer wrote a letter to PM Modi on Sengol, know who is Padma Subramaniam

New Parliament Inauguration: Prime Minister to inaugurate the new Parliament House on 28 May Narendra Modi is about to do. Along with the new Parliament House, Sengol is also in limelight. For the first time in 2021, famous Bharatanatyam dancer Padma Subramaniam wrote a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office regarding Sengol.

Padma Subramaniam was not sure at that time that her letter written about Sengol would turn into a big event. Actually, this letter contained a translation of a Tamil article written on Sengol. After two years, now Sengol i.e. the scepter has been brought from Prayagraj’s Nehru Museum to be set up in the new Parliament House

‘Sengol is a symbol of strength and justice’

In an interview to India Today, Padma Subramaniam said that a Tamil article was published in Thuglak Magazine. I was very attracted towards this article written on Sengol. It was in 1978 that Chandrasekharendra Saraswati told his disciple Dr. Subramaniam about Sengol and wrote about it in books.

He said that Sengol is very important in Tamil culture. Chhatra, Sengol and Sinhasan are mainly about the powers of the king. Sengol is considered a symbol of power and justice. This is not something that came a thousand years ago. Tamil history traces its roots back to the Chera dynasty.
