OTT Platforms:For entertainment in the country, users are using many OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Zee5 and SonyLIV, but recently SP Kochhar, Director General of Cellular Operators Association of India, said that these Serious allegations have been made on all OTT platforms.
If COAI DG’s allegations are to be believed then the government is being defrauded of huge tax amount by other OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Zee5 and SonyLIV. According to SP Kochhar, currently the 5G network is expanding rapidly in the country, the benefit of which is also being taken by OTT platforms, but no payment has been made for it by other OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Zee5 and SonyLIV. Nor has permission been sought from the government to use this network.
There is collusion between OTT platform and mobile company
According to SP Kochhar, Director General of Cellular Operators Association of India, most of the mobile service providing companies have announced separate tariff vouchers for the use of 5G network. Whereas OTT platforms charge monthly rental from users, in such a situation the OTT platform and the mobile service providing company share the revenue among themselves and the government does not get any benefit from it.
SP Kochhar said in clear words that Cellular Operators Association of India spends crores of rupees on the maintenance of 5G network. In such a situation, companies providing OTT platforms and mobile services should give some share of their profits to the government.
OTT market will be worth $12.5 billion by 2030
According to a report, by 2030 the OTT market in India will be worth around $12.5 billion (about Rs 1,03,890 crore). Let us tell you that this business will spread rapidly only because of 5G network.
