Sudan Violence Live Updates: A war broke out on Saturday between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary ‘Rapid Support Force’. Gunshots and explosions were heard several times in the morning in different parts of Sudan’s capital, Khartoum. The paramilitary forces claim to control the international airport in Khartoum as well as a second airport in Meroe. The paramilitary RSF also claimed to have captured the presidential palace and the residence of army chief General Burhan.
UN Special Representative for Sudan Volker Perthes said he contacted both sides and called for an immediate end to the fighting to ensure the safety of the Sudanese people and to save the country from further violence. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that he is very concerned about the news of the fight. Russia appeals for ceasefire after military and paramilitary forces clash.
