Irfan Pathan On Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka became the second team to reach the final of Asia Cup 2023. Sri Lanka booked the ticket to the final by defeating Pakistan by 2 wickets in Super-4 through DLS method. Now the final of the tournament will be played between India and Sri Lanka on Sunday, September 17. Whereas former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan called Sri Lanka the team of the future after the victory over Pakistan.
Former Indian all-rounder told why Sri Lanka is the team of the future. Pathan talked about this through a tweet. He told that the team has batsmen who can bowl. Their batting lineup is long. Sri Lanka lost only one match in the tournament
Sri Lanka played a total of five matches in Asia Cup 2023, in which the team has lost only one match against India, in all the remaining matches the team has performed brilliantly and won. Sri Lanka had excellent bowling in the match against India also.
In the tournament, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets in the first match of the group stage and defeated Afghanistan by 2 runs in the second match of the group stage. Then once again Sri Lanka and Bangladesh faced each other in Super-4, in which Sri Lanka won by 21 runs. However, after this the team had to face defeat by 41 runs against India in the second match of Super-4.
Then in the third and last match of Super-4, they defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets under DLS and made it to the finals. It is noteworthy that Sri Lanka had won the title in the 2022 Asia Cup, when the team became the champion by defeating Pakistan by 23 runs in the final.
