The Indian team has to play its first match in the ODI World 2023 against the Australian team on October 8 at the Chennai ground. Before that, Team India will also play 2 practice matches. One of these will be played against England on 30th September at Guwahati ground. According to the news of ESPN Cricinfo, Ashwin can be made a part of the team in place of Akshar Patel.

Ashwin got a chance to play in the first 2 matches of the 3-match ODI series that ended against Australia. In this, he could not do anything special in the first match whereas in the second match, Ashwin was definitely successful in impressing everyone with his bowling.

Ashwin was a part of the 2011 World Cup winning team

In 2011, when the Indian team won the ODI World Cup under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ashwin was a part of Team India at that time. Although he got a chance to play in only 2 matches, but this also included the important quarter-final match against Australia. Ashwin had taken 2 wickets while conceding 52 runs in that match.
