Shahid Afridi On WC 2023 Final: When Team India was batting in the final match of the World Cup 2023, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi gave a statement on live TV. He had said about Indian batsmen that sometimes overconfidence gets you killed. After Team India’s defeat in the final, this comment of this former Pakistani cricketer is now going viral.
Shahid Afridi had said this during a debate on Pakistani news channel ‘Samaa TV’. Here Mohammad Yusuf was also present with him in the panel. During the World Cup final, when the Indian innings was struggling in the first powerplay, Afridi had targeted the Indian batsmen. This statement of Shahid Afridi came after Shubman Gill was out on a careless shot and Rohit Sharma was out on an unnecessary shot.
‘If you win continuously then overconfidence comes’
When Team India lost its third wicket in the form of Shreyas Iyer in the 11th over of the match, then the anchor asked Shahid Afridi. Asked if this is the pressure of a big game. On this Afridi said, ‘No, this is not the pressure of a big game. They have confidence. Grew up like this. Have been playing in front of such a crowd. International cricket is completely pressure based. They know this. When you keep winning matches continuously, you also become overconfident. This thing gets you killed. Because the balls on which he was out were not the kind of balls that gave wickets at all.’
