Wahab Riaz on Haris Rauf: Pakistan team’s fast bowler Haris Rauf has received a strict warning from the national team’s chief selector Wahab Riaz. This warning has been given to him regarding withdrawing his name from the Australia tour for the Test series. Rauf had refused to go on Australia tour citing his fitness and work load. On this, Wahab Riaz has said that no matter how big a player he is, if he does not give priority to the national team then he will not be a part of our future plans.
Wahab Riaz said, ‘Two days ago Haris had said that he is available for the Australia tour, now last night he said that he is worried about fitness and work load and he is not available. Hafeez and I had a long conversation with him and told him that the coach and captain want you to play in Australia. We also assured him that he would not be made to bowl more than 10 to 12 overs in a day."text-align: justify;">‘No matter how big a player someone is’
Wahab said, ‘We also talked to the team physio and trainer about Haris and they said that Haris has no fitness problem and They will not have any problems in Australia. We feel that being a centrally contracted player, he should not have stepped back. We feel that in the absence of Naseem, Hasnain and Ehsanullah due to injuries, Rauf should make the sacrifice and play for Pakistan.’
After this, Riaz finally said, ‘Whoever the player is and no matter how big he is, if he is not giving priority to the Pakistan team then he will not be included in our plans for the future.’
