Till now the finals have been played 7 times in Asia Cup between both the teams. This time India and Sri Lanka will face each other in the final of Asia Cup for the 8th time. The last title clash of the Asia Cup between the two took place in 2010, in which Team India won and won the 5th title.
In the 2010 tournament, India defeated Sri Lanka by 81 runs in the final. Dinesh Karthik did wonders for the team in batting and Ashish Nehra in bowling. In the match, India batted first and scored 268 runs on the board for 6 wickets in 50 overs. Dinesh Karthik had scored the highest score of 66 runs. This innings of Karthik included 9 fours.
Sri Lanka had lost consecutive wickets
The Sri Lankan team, which came to chase the runs, was all out for 187 runs in 44.4 overs. Chamara Kapugedara played an inning of 55 runs while remaining unbeaten for the team. However, his innings could not bring victory to the team. Sri Lanka’s continuous loss of wickets was the biggest reason for the team’s defeat. Sri Lanka had lost the wicket of star batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan in the very first over. Dilshan returned to the pavilion without opening his account.
Due to such continuous loss of wickets, half of the Sri Lankan team went back to the pavilion with a score of just 51 runs. After this, Kapugedara tried to take the team forward by playing an inning of 55* runs, but no one could support him and the team was all out for 187 runs.
India’s bowling was amazing
In the match, Ashish Nehra took 4 wickets for 40 runs in 9 overs. Apart from this, Zaheer Khan and Ravindra Jadeja got 2 successes each. Praveen Kumar was also successful in taking 1 wicket.
