Asia Cup 2023: ‘When the people there are not safe in Pakistan…’ Harbhajan bluntly on Asia Cup hosting controversy

Asia Cup Hosting Issue: The tussle between PCB and BCCI continues over the hosting of Asia Cup 2023. Both the cricket boards are firm on their stubbornness. The PCB wants to host the Asia Cup under any circumstances, while the BCCI’s stand is clear that if the Asia Cup is held in Pakistan, it will not send the Indian team there. Former cricketers of India and Pakistan are also giving their opinion on this issue. Meanwhile, India’s veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh has also given a big statement. If it happens then the Indian team should not take the risk of going there. Harbhajan Singh has said, ‘The Indian team should not go to Pakistan because it is not safe to go there. Why are we taking the risk of going there, when the people there do not feel safe in their own country. The hosting of the Asia Cup 2023 was initially given to Pakistan only. But last year, after the statement of BCCI Secretary Jai Shah, there were speculations about shifting of this tournament to some other place. Last year, during the T20 World Cup, Jay Shah had clearly said that if the Asia Cup is held in Pakistan, then the Indian team will not participate in this tournament. After this stand of BCCI, PCB has also made it clear that if the Indian team does not come to Pakistan, then their team will also not participate in the World Cup to be held in India. The final decision on the venue of the Asia Cup 2023 may come this month.
