India’s Rohan Bopanna and Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi lost their first match in the ATP 500 tennis competition on Wednesday after reuniting. The unseeded Indian and Pakistan pair, facing second seeded Bruno Soares and Jamie Murray, lost 7-6 2-6 1-10 in the first round of the $ 12,04,960 prize hard court competition.
Bopanna and Qureshi lost the second set after winning the first set. All the doors of the pair’s comeback were closed after trailing 0-7 in the tiebreaker. Bopanna and Qureshi last played in the 2014 ATP competition in Shenzhen. Both the players, however, have made it clear that they have only played together in this tournament as the lower joint ranking of the two will not allow them a place in the big tournaments.
