Sawan Somvar Fast story (Sawan Somvar Vrat Katha)
Once a moneylender was a great devotee of Lord Bholenath. He had a lot of money but he had no children. He used to worship Bholenath everyday and used to light a lamp everyday in front of Lord Shiva. The only wish of the moneylender was that there should be a child in his house. Seeing the devotion of the moneylender, mother Parvati told Bholenath that this devotee of yours is sad, you should fulfill his wish. Bholenath told Mother Parvati that he does not have a son, and this is his sorrow.

On the behest of Mother Parvati, Bholenath told Mother Parvati that there is no son in the fortune of the moneylender. Even if the moneylender gets the boon of a son, his son will live only for 12 years.
The moneylender was listening to all these things. The moneylender was neither happy nor sad. He continued to worship like before. One day his wife gave birth to a child. There was an atmosphere of celebration in his family. But the moneylender was neither happy nor sad as before.

At the age of 11, the moneylender sent his son to Kashi to study with his maternal uncle, the moneylender told his brother-in-law to make a feast for the Brahmin on the way. A princess was getting married on the way to Kashi, whose bridegroom was blind with one eye. So when his father saw the very handsome moneylender’s son, he thought why not make him sit on a mare and get all the marriage functions done. When the marriage took place, before leaving, the moneylender’s son wrote on the hem of the princess’s chundri that you were married to me, but the prince with whom you will be sent is just an eyeball. After this the moneylender’s son reached Kashi. The princess didn’t leave with Kane.

One day during the Yagya in Kashi, the nephew did not come out for a long time, so the maternal uncle went inside and saw that the nephew had died. Mama started crying. At the same time Shiva-Parvati were going from there, then mother Parvati asked Shivji, O Lord, who is crying? Only then they come to know that he is the son of a moneylender born with the blessings of Bholenath. Then Mother Parvati said that Swami should make him alive, otherwise his parents will die while crying. Then Bholenath said that O Parvati, this was his age, so he has already suffered.

But Bholenath made him alive on the repeated saying of the mother. The boy woke up while chanting Om Namah Shivay and both maternal uncle and nephew thanked God, and returned to their city. The same city lay on the way and the princess recognized him, then the king sent the princess off with the moneylender’s son with a lot of money. After this he reached his village where the moneylender was very happy to see his son and daughter-in-law. The same night Shivaji appeared to the moneylender in a dream and said that I am pleased with your worship. Similarly, whoever reads or listens to this story, all his sorrows will go away and all his wishes will be fulfilled.
