Then Rishi Kashyap made 21 lumps of Durva and fed it to Shri Ganesha and as soon as he consumed Durva, the burning sensation in his stomach subsided. Since then Durva is dear to Shri Ganesh. You can also get his blessings by offering Durva to Lord Ganesha during Ganeshotsav. 

How to offer Durva –Durva is offered to Lord Ganesha in a special way. By joining 22 Durvas together, 11 pairs of Durvas are prepared. These 11 joints should be offered at the feet of Lord Ganesha. For worship, only Durva grown in the garden of a temple or in a clean place should be taken. Before offering Durva, it should be washed with clean water. While offering Durva, 11 mantras of Lord Ganesha should be chanted. . Durva ke Upay)

  • On the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, after the installation of the idol, take 21 Durvas along with their roots and place them under the idol of God and chant the mantra Om Shri Ganeshay Namah. Chant a rosary. You have to chant this daily for ten days and after immersion on the tenth day, put Durva in a red cloth and keep it in your safe. This will definitely fulfill all your wishes.  
  • If there is always a shortage of money at home, then you can offer prayers to Lord Shiva by tying 11 knots in 5 Durvas on Ganesh Chaturthi, Wednesday or any auspicious time. Offer to Goddess Lakshmi first among Ganesh and Panchdevs. While offering Durva, do chant the mantra ‘Shri Ganeshaya Namah Durvankuran Samarpayami’. After this, recite Ranharta Ganesh Stotra. By doing this you will soon get relief from financial crisis.
  • Apart from this, plant Durva in an earthen pot towards the east of the house. On this Durva, offer water while meditating on Lord Ganesha every day. Prosperity will start arriving in your house. Offer the Durva grown in this pot to Lord Ganesha every Wednesday.
