Mohit Sharma on Net Bowling: Indian fast bowler Mohit Sharma gave a match-winning performance for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 match played on Thursday (April 13) night. He took two wickets for 18 runs in four overs against Punjab Kings. Due to his strong bowling, he was also elected ‘Player of the Match’. The special thing here was that Mohit had returned to IPL after three years. IPL 2014 Purple Cap winner and Mohit, who was a part of the Indian team’s squad in World Cup 2015, had a rough last three years.
Mohit Sharma, who made his IPL debut in the year 2013, made a lot of noise in the IPL till the year 2017. During this, he also got a chance to play international matches. But since 2017, the performance of this player has dropped to such an extent that in IPL 2019 and 2020, he got a chance to take the field in only one match each. His back injury was also a big reason for this. After this he remained unsold in the next two seasons.
The condition was that last season he was playing the role of only a net bowler for Gujarat Titans. He worked hard while getting Gujarat Titans batsmen to practice in the nets and the result was that this time the Gujarat franchise bought him in the auction and after three years he also got a chance to play an IPL match again.

Mohit said, ‘I had back surgery. After that I played domestic cricket last year. Many people did not know this. I got a call from Ashu Bhai (Ashish Nehra). He said that you should stay with the team, if someone gets injured then you can get a chance. Definitely if you want to improve your cricket then you have to practice continuously. I thought what would I do sitting at home. So I came here and continued my practice. There is nothing wrong in being a net bowler. This gives you good exposure. You get a chance to play with good players. I think it worked out well for me.’
