Pakistan’s former PM Imran Khan and his wife banned from leaving the country

Islamabad: The government of Pakistan has banned at least 80 people from leaving the country, including former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife. This information was given in the media news on Thursday. Khan was arrested on May 9 in a corruption case, following which violent protests took place across the country. Since then, several top leaders of the party, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Khan, are facing criminal cases.

‘Sama’ news channel reported, “The federal government has decided to include the names of 80 people, including PTI chairman Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, in the No Flying List.” However, this development has not been officially confirmed by Khan’s party.

The channel said that apart from Khan and Bushra, those added to the no-fly list include PTI leaders Murad Saeed, Malika Bukhari, Hammad Azhar, Qasim Suri, Asad Kaiser, Yasmin Rashid and Mian Aslam. It also includes the name of Fawad Chaudhary who has already left the party.

According to the channel, the names of PTI leaders have been included in the list on the recommendation of the concerned institutions. It has been said in the news that the Police Department, National Accountability Bureau and Anti-Corruption Department had requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to include these names in the no-fly list.

The no-fly list is maintained by the Ministry of Home Affairs and officials posted at airports and other exit routes are given the names of people who are banned from leaving the country. When Khan was the Prime Minister, the names of many high profile people including Pakistan Muslim League-N leader and current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif were included in this list.
