Prakash Ambedkar: Prakash Ambedkar, the grandson of Constitution maker Dr. BR Ambedkar, said on Friday (April 14) that the Telangana government may demand to make Hyderabad the second capital of India. As Ambedkar had said in the Constituent Assembly that whenever the question of India’s security would arise, the demand to become the country’s second capital would intensify. Once he even suggested making Hyderabad the second capital of the country.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao unveiled a 125 feet tall statue of Ambedkar in Hyderabad on Friday. During this, he said that Delhi is only 300 km from the border of Pakistan and 500 km from the border of China. Talking about the role of Babasaheb, K Chandrasekhar Rao said that Ambedkar had realized that the country would not be able to develop properly unless it had a second capital.

Prakash Ambedkar who had earlier gone to Huzurabad to see the work of Dalit Bandhu Yojana. He praised the KCR government for starting this scheme. Along with this, he said that this is a very commendable step in removing economic inequalities and eradicating poverty. Under the Dalit Bandhu scheme, the state government gives 10 lakh rupees to each Dalit family to choose the business of their choice. However, he suggested the government to ensure that the value of this Rs 10 lakh is maintained even after a year.
Is the demand for making the country’s second capital justified?
Babasaheb’s grandson Prakash Ambedkar said that Babasaheb used to say that until we stabilize the value of the rupee, poverty will not be eradicated. Prakash Ambedkar said that small states like Telangana can have the concept of a welfare state. He said that Babasaheb had made it clear in 1956 that states should not be reorganized on the basis of language. He had said that while reorganizing the states, you have to look at the economic condition, geographical boundaries and whether they can become good administrative units.
