Mumbai Corona Update: 4 deaths due to Kovid in Maharashtra, more than 1,000 daily cases for the third consecutive day

Mumbai Corona Update: Four Kovid-19 patients have died in Maharashtra on Friday (April 14). If we look at this week’s figures,  Total 16 people have died. The daily count of Covid-19 crossed 1,000 for the third consecutive day on Friday, with 1,152 people testing positive for Covid-19. A 91-year-old man suffering from acute kidney problem died in Mumbai, where Mumbai on Friday 284 cases were registered. Other deaths occurred in Nagpur (2) and Sindhudurg (1).

Though 30 per cent of the 118 patients hospitalized in Mumbai are on oxygen support, doctors said most of them were not seriously ill. A doctor from a public hospital said, "Some of the vulnerable patients in terms of age or chronic diseases are suffering from moderate Covid, but most have mild infection." According to BMC’s daily Covid update, 92% patients were asymptomatic. 

More than a thousand new cases are coming every day 
While Mumbai conducted more than 2,000 tests for two days, the number of tests came down to 1,729 on the third day. A BMC official said that all our hospitals, especially tertiary care ones, have been asked to conduct corona tests for patients with influenza-like illness and severe acute respiratory infection. Meanwhile, the Mumbai circle accounts for almost half of the state’s daily caseload (565), followed by Nagpur (278) and Pune (157).  The number of active cases in the state is close to 6,000. There are only 1,643 cases in Mumbai. Mumbai had less than 200 active cases on 1 March.

Face mask made mandatory in BMC hospitals
In view of increasing cases of corona in the city, BMC has made it mandatory to wear face mask in all BMC hospitals from April 10. Apart from this, BMC has also appealed to its employees and people above 60 years of age to wear masks.
