According to the New York Post report, US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden was convicted on Thursday on three counts of drug addiction as well as illegal gun possession. Earlier, Hunter Biden was convicted by special counsel David Weiss in Delaware.
Apart from this, according to the New York Post, the charges against Hunter could lead to up to 25 years in prison and this could also become the first of many criminal cases against him. Hunter, 53, may also face tax fraud and illegal foreign lobbying cases in DC and Los Angeles.
However, Hunter Biden was also accused of lying about drug use on a gun purchase form in 2018 when he purchased a Colt Cobra revolver. According to the New York Post, he wrote in his 2021 memoir “Beautiful Things” that he was using drugs at the time.
The indictment of Biden’s son relates to three counts – violating federal laws governing gun ownership, lying to authorities and interstate commerce.
Additionally, earlier in July, Hunter had backed out of a plea agreement that had given him two years’ probation for failing to pay taxes on more than US$2 million in foreign income from countries such as China and Ukraine. McCarthy’s formal support for impeachment comes after he has previously said he believes the House investigation will ultimately lead to impeachment. The House Oversight Committee has not concluded that Biden directly benefited financially from his son Hunter Biden’s business operations or that he made any policy decisions as a result of them in those months.
