Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav said on Friday that his party will maintain equal distance from both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Yadav said that the SP will stand firmly with Trinamool Congress President Mamata Banerjee to defeat the BJP. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the meeting of party workers, he said, “We are with Mamta Didi in Bengal. At this point of time, our stand is that we want to keep equal distance from both BJP and Congress.
Earlier, while addressing the workers’ conference, the SP President praised Mamata Banerjee for defeating the BJP in the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections. He said, “The Samajwadi Party is ready to make any sacrifice to save our Constitution. If we can defeat the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP can be defeated across the country.” Yadav also accused the BJP-led central government of selling off the country’s assets to foreign powers and the private sector.
