Muzaffarpur boat accident: 12 children still missing, NDRF-SDRF search operation resumes

A major accident took place in Muzaffarpur, Bihar on Thursday when a boat capsized in the Bagmati river. The boat carrying 34 children had capsized in the river. 12 children are still missing and nothing has been found about them. Whereas many children have been saved. NDRF and SDRF have started search operations again from this morning. Ten children did not reach home after verification by the district administration, now they are being searched. On Thursday, all the children were going to school on a boat when the boat overturned near Madhupur Patti Ghat of Bagmati River.

According to the information, about one thousand people live in Madhurpatti village. The boat is the only support for these people. They have no other option to cross the river. There is only a primary school in the village. For further studies and to get ration, people here have to cross the river and go to other places. The people of the village have many times demanded the leaders to build a bridge but their demands were not heard. Now once again a boat accident has happened. Now the rescue operation is going on to find the missing children.

After the accident, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had told reporters that senior district officials, including the District Magistrate, have been directed to visit the accident site and said that the families of the children will be given help and assistance. CM Nitish Kumar had said, “Rescue operations are underway… I have asked the concerned District Magistrate to look into the matter immediately. The state government will provide all assistance to the affected families.” A team of State Disaster Response Force is also on the spot for relief and rescue operations.
