Mumbai Police’s big campaign against drug smugglers, drugs worth Rs 5 crore recovered

A large quantity of drugs have been seized in Mumbai. Navi Mumbai Police has recovered drugs worth around 5 crores on Saturday by running a big campaign against drug smugglers. Led by Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe, raids were conducted at 6 locations in Vashi, Koparkhairane, Kharghar and Taloja police stations, in which a total of 74 foreign nationals were questioned.

Milind Bharambe told that a total of 5 crimes were registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. In five crimes, 3 crimes against 14 accused are under NDPS Act. 898 grams of Cocaine, 267 grms of MD, 36,640 strips of Banned Tramadol Hydrochloride worth Rs.4,96,26,000/- were seized.

He told that during this period two offenses under the Passport Act were also registered against the accused living illegally in India. Documents of 9 foreign nationals were found to be incorrect. Notice to leave India has been issued to 31 people living in India even after the expiry of the visa period. Vehicles and mobile phones and other electronic gazettes have been seized for digital forensic examination. During this, 11 accused with criminal background were found, against whom various crimes were already registered.
 
Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe told that the flat owners who did not inform the police about giving their flats on rent will also be booked under section 144 of CrPC for violating the orders.
