Chinese company Lenovo, which manufactures laptops and desktops, is accused of tax evasion and tax manipulation. On Wednesday, the Income Tax team searched Lenovo’s offices in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Gurugram. The Income Tax team also checked the laptops of the staff. This action of the Income Tax authorities has been confirmed by Lenovo.
The company said that we are strictly complying with all applicable laws, regulations and reporting requirements in the jurisdictions in which we do business.
Earlier, at the end of July 2023, the Income Tax Department had searched the offices of Chinese home appliance company Haier in Mumbai, Pune and Noida. The premises of Haier’s promoters were also raided for alleged under-reporting of income and royalty payments.
