Congress has shown its true colors: Anurag Thakur attacks on Sukhu’s ‘Bihari’ statement

Union minister Anurag Thakur said on Thursday that the Congress has shown its true colors by “blaming” and insulting the people of Bihar for the devastation caused by heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh. Thakur was reacting to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s reported remarks in which he blamed construction workers from Bihar for the devastation in Shimla, one of Himachal’s worst-affected districts.

“The Congress has shown its true colours,” Thakur told reporters on the sidelines of his visit to ‘Bharat Mandapam’, the venue of the G-20 summit here. No chief minister has any right to insult the people of Bihar, be it Arvind Kejriwal or Sukhwinder Sukhu. Be an IPS officer or a media person.

Sukhu reportedly said, “The migrant architects (masons), whom I call ‘Bihari architects’, come here and build floor upon floor. We don’t have local masons.” Thakur said the Congress should focus on relief and rehabilitation in Himachal Pradesh and not get involved in politics. The Union Minister said that he would visit Himachal Pradesh on August 20-21 and meet the people affected by the disaster.
