‘Chatur…’, ‘Fud-Noise’: Amruta Fadnavis and Priyanka Chaturvedi engage in Twitter war of words

A complaint against a designer by Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has sparked a war of words on Twitter. Rajya Sabha MPs Priyanka Chaturvedi and Amruta Fadnavis have started a round of taunts against each other on the micro-blogging website regarding this case related to allegations of threats and conspiracy.

Amrita Fadnavis got the name of a woman named ‘Aniksha’ and her father written in the FIR, which was registered on 20 February. Amruta Fadnavis alleges that the woman tried to bribe her to the tune of Rs 1 crore and sought her intervention in a criminal case registered against her father. The woman’s father has allegedly been evading arrest for several years. Aniksha also allegedly offered Amrita information about several bookies to ‘help Amrita earn money…’

Aniksha herself is also the daughter of a wanted bookie, Anil Jaisinghani.

Priyanka Chaturvedi, leader of the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction, while sharing a news clipping published regarding the complaint of Amrita Fadnavis, wondered how the daughter of a criminal had access to the house of Devendra Fadnavis, who is also the home minister of the state. Priyanka also demanded an independent probe into the matter, as the state police report to Devendra Fadnavis, being the Home Minister.

Taking no notice, Amruta Fadnavis replied that the MP had earlier also falsely accused her of helping Axis Bank, and now she is challenging his honesty. He wrote, “Madam Chatur, earlier you falsely claimed that I had benefited Axis Bank, and now you are challenging my integrity…? Surely, after winning your trust if someone approaches you and takes money from you?” If you had offered to close the case, you would have helped him through your boss – that’s your status…”

Priyanka Chaturvedi also hit back with a ‘magic of words’ and wrote, “Thankfully, I can’t afford to buy designer clothes for promotions that lead to messy situations later… Ms. Fudd-Noyce ( Ms Fad-noise)… I don’t know why the demand for an independent investigation got you so freaked out, and honestly you should have reported the woman the same day she gave you the money making tip. ..”

Based on Amruta Fadnavis’ complaint, the Mumbai Police has registered a case of conspiracy against the woman and her father under the anti-corruption law. The woman allegedly first contacted Am-ta Fadnavis in November 2021. According to Amrita Fadnavis, after that she met him a total of 16 times.

According to the FIR, in the first meeting with Amrita, the woman had claimed that her mother had passed away. Amrita Fadnavis has alleged that the woman had once lied to her bodyguard and even sat in her car. The woman allegedly told Amrita that her father had been passing on information about bookies to the police, and offered her a scheme to earn money.
