Khelo India Games: ‘The attitude of previous governments towards sports is a living proof that…’, PM Modi’s attack on Congress

PM Modi At Khelo India Games: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (May 25) inaugurated the third edition of Khelo India University Games through video conference. During this PM Modi Congress  Attacking said that she only changed the name. 

PM Modi said, “The scam that happened during the Commonwealth Games was a living proof of the attitude of the previous governments towards sports. A scam was done in the sports competition which used to create awe in the world. The scheme used to run for the children of the village in the name of Panchayat Yuva Khel Abhiyan, which was later changed to Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan. In this plan, emphasis was only on changing the name.”

He further said that sports inspires collective success by rising above vested interests. Sports teaches us to follow decorum, to follow the rules. A new era of sports has started in India in the last nine years. 

What did you claim?
PM Modi said that a winner becomes a great player only when he always follows the spirit of sportsmanship and dignity.  A winner becomes a great player only when the society takes inspiration from his every conduct. He claimed that sports are proposed to be taught as a subject in the ‘New National Education Policy’. Sports is now going to be a part of the curriculum. The creation of the country’s first ‘National Sports University’ will further help in this. 

When will the Khelo India University Games be held?
This year the Khelo India University Games are being held in Uttar Pradesh from 25 May to 3 June. These competitions will be organized in Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow and Gautam Buddha Nagar. More than 4 thousand 750 athletes from more than 200 universities will participate in these games, who will compete in 21 sports, the closing ceremony of the games will be held in Varanasi on June 3.
