Jagadish Shettar: Senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has joined the Congress today. As soon as he joined, he said that he had played an important role in building and strengthening the BJP in Karnataka, but despite this he was humiliated. This is the reason why he has joined the Congress. He termed it as a matter of ‘self-respect’ and said that I will strengthen the Congress in the state in the same way as I had done for the BJP.

Shettar’s family is already in politics
Shettar told that my family has been associated with Jansangh since 1947. My uncle was the first person to be elected as an MLA from South India. I was actively involved in ABVP, but no one understood the pain. They said I was humiliated for six months. The in-charge of the state at the last moment asked me to send a letter agreeing to retire from electoral politics. Shettar said that there was no other way.
