Former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar joined the Congress party just before the Karnataka assembly elections, giving a jolt to the BJP. While taking Congress membership, he said that the nomination process was to start in Karnataka from April 13 and on April 11, the state in-charge called me and said that Jagadish Shettar ji, you and Eshwarappa will not get tickets. You sign an agreement and announce this by holding a press conference, I was shocked at this.

Party people treated me like a small child. I am a senior leader, no senior leader of the party spoke to me. No one said that you should withdraw from electoral politics now, the party will take care of you. If he had said so, I would have had no hesitation in accepting his point of view.
I was shocked at the kind of treatment meted out to me. Even from my well-wishers and followers, pressure started coming on me. My self-respect has been hurt, that’s why I decided to contest the election. Meanwhile, all the senior Congress leaders talked to me and proposed to join the Congress. Keeping in view the expectations of my followers, I have joined the Congress party. The house we built was today forcibly thrown out by them, so I was left with no other option.
