Yasin Malik Appears In SC: Delhi jail authorities have suspended four officials in the Yasin Malik security lapse case. An official gave this information on Saturday (July 22). Jail authorities on Friday (July 21) launched a probe after Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik, serving life sentence in a terror funding case, was taken to the Supreme Court without following the Standard Operating Procedure.
A senior prison official said that in the case of Yasin Malik’s physical appearance in the Supreme Court on July 21, the prison department has suspended a deputy superintendent, two assistant superintendents and a head warder on Friday (July 21) night. All four were prima facie found responsible on the basis of preliminary investigation.
From whose side the mistake happened?
The officer said that a detailed investigation is being done by DIG Tihar to identify the other officers. According to a senior jail official, on Friday Yasin Malik was produced before the Supreme Court by the authorities of Central Jail No. 7 (Tihar) and prima facie found that it was a lapse on the part of the jail authorities concerned.
The officer further said that the Director General of Prisons has ordered Deputy Inspector General Rajeev Singh to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter to fix the responsibility of the guilty officers. The DG had asked to submit the report within three days.
What was the reason behind Yasin Malik’s appearance?
Yasin Malik had reached the court to appear in an appeal filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation, challenging the order passed in September 2022 by a TADA court in Jammu, granting him personal immunity in the trial related to the killing of four Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel in Srinagar in 1990 and the abduction of Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of then Union minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, in 1989. presence was required. The order was stayed by the Supreme Court on April 24, issuing notices to the respondents, including Malik, for personal appearance.
