Women Reservation Bill News: There was a heated argument in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday between senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In fact, Adhir Ranjan demanded to give credit to his party for the Women’s Reservation Bill. On this, Home Minister Amit Shah said something to him, due to which there was an uproar. Actually, there was a debate between Adhir Ranjan Choudhary and Amit Shah on the history of the Women’s Reservation Bill. Through this bill, it has been said that one-third of the seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies will be reserved for women. Due to lack of consensus among the MPs, this bill was pending for the last 27 years. On Tuesday, the Central Government introduced the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha.

What did Adhir Ranjan Choudhary say?

Adhir Ranjan said that since then the Congress has been trying to bring a law to ensure one-third reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. The leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha also said that the governments of Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh tried to get this bill passed. But he had to face challenges in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. 

The Congress MP said that the bill brought during the tenure of Manmohan Singh was passed in the Rajya Sabha. This means it still exists. This has also been discussed in the proposal of the Congress Working Committee. He said that even Sonia Gandhi Prime Minister

What did Amit Shah say? 

Rejecting the claims of Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, Home Minister Amit Shah said that there were two factual errors in the statement of the senior Congress leader. Amit Shah said that the first mistake is that the Women’s Reservation Bill was never passed in the Lok Sabha. The second mistake is that the old bill lapsed with the dissolution of the 15th Lok Sabha in 2014. Amit Shah asked the Congress MP to show documents to prove his claims. He said that if he cannot do this then he should withdraw his statement.
