‘The popular name of the country has been Bharat, that is why…’, said RSS’s Manmohan Vaidya, also gave statement on Sanatan Dharma

India or Bharat Renaming Row: Amidst the ongoing debate regarding the name ‘Bharat or India’, a big statement was given by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). RSS Joint General Secretary Manmohan Vaidya said on Saturday (September 16) that the name of the country is India and it should remain India.

RSS co-secretary Dr. Manmohan Vaidya said, "Bharat has been a popular name since ancient times. Therefore it should remain the same." Manmohan Vaidya and RSS’s all-India publicity chief Sunil Ambekar were speaking at a press conference at the conclusion of the three-day meeting of the coordination committee of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

What was said about Sanatan Dharma?

In response to a question on Sanatan culture, Manmohan Vaidya said, "Sanatan Dharma does not mean religion. Sanatan civilization is a spiritual democracy. Those who make statements about Sanatan should first understand the meaning of this word."

"Emphasis on increasing women’s participation"

Dr. Vaidya said that RSS-inspired organizations will make special efforts to increase the participation of women in all fields and ensure their leading role. The role of women is most prominent in Indian families. Therefore, women should play a major role in every sector of the society.

He said that the subject of ensuring participation of women in the centenary year of RSS was discussed in detail in the meeting. 246 representatives of 36 organizations associated with the Sangh including BJP participated in this meeting held in Pune, Maharashtra.

Three-day meeting of RSS

Issues like current social and national scenario, economy, national security, education, maintaining social harmony and national service were also discussed in this meeting.
