Jairam Ramesh on Kiren Rijiju: Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju’s ‘part of the anti-India gang’ remark. He retaliated against Rijiju and took a dig at him. Jairam said that the law minister is talking like a dacoit. The Justice Minister is propagating injustice. If this is not a threat to postwar freedom of speech then what is?
Actually, Rijiju had said that there are some judges who are activists and part of the anti-India gang who are trying to turn the judiciary against the government like the opposition parties. The Law Minister said that judges are not part of any political affiliation. How can these people say that there is a need to control the executive? How can they say so? No one will be spared and those who go against the country will have to pay.
Rules are not for the court
Rijiju had expressed his opinion on many issues from judiciary to collegium system on Saturday (March 18) at the India Today Conclave. During this, he also launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi. He said that accountability of courts is one issue and Lakshman Rekha is another issue. He said that I have received a large number of suggestions and feedback regarding the accountability of judges, because you know that judges are not accountable to anyone. He said that running the house has its own rules. Assemblies have their own rules. The functions of the government are also under rules, but there are no rules for the court.
A Law Minister talking like an Outlaw. A Minister of Justice propagating Injustice. If this is not a threat to freedom AFTER speech what is it? https://t.co/RJrq8yM8ue
