The number will more than double
There are total 200 seats in Rajasthan Assembly. After the passing of the Women’s Reservation Bill, it will be mandatory to have 66 women MLAs in the House. At present there are 27 women MLAs in Rajasthan Assembly. That means, after reservation, the number of women MLAs will go from 27 to 66, which is more than double.
7 women MLAs in the first assembly
If we talk about the first assembly of Rajasthan, a total of 7 women MLAs were elected in the elections held in 1952. In the assembly elections held in 2018, 27 women won and reached the House. The situation will become better after 33 percent reservation. The number of women MLAs will definitely be at least 66.
The number of MPs will also improve
If we look at the number of women MPs from Rajasthan, currently there are three women MPs from the state. In 2019, all three of them had reached the Lok Sabha on BJP ticket. There are a total of 25 Lok Sabha seats and 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Rajasthan. There is no woman MP from here in Rajya Sabha. After implementation of 33 percent reservation, 8-9 Lok Sabha seats will be reserved for women. In such a situation, the situation will be much better here also.
