Mayawati’s party BSP, Badal’s party Akali Dal, Chautala’s party INLD, Ajmal’s party AIUDF and Raju Shetty’s party Shetkari Sanghatana are speculated to join the India coalition. Nitish Kumar and the Congress high command are trying to unite these parties.
According to the sources, initial level talks have also been held with 3 out of these 5 parties. Their proposals will be kept in the meeting of the India Alliance. These 5 parties have a direct impact on 50 seats in the Lok Sabha. The majority of the 50 seats are currently with the BJP.
In this story, do you know why there is speculation about these 5 parties joining the India alliance?
Why the speculation about Mayawati’s arrival?
Bahujan Samaj Party has contested elections in 2019 together with SP and RLD. In 2019, BSP had won 10 seats. Congress is the biggest advocate of bringing BSP in India alliance. In the 2022 elections too, the Congress had approached Mayawati, but the matter could not be worked out then.
Mayawati has spoken of not forging an alliance with anyone in 2024, but Congress sources claim that talks are going on with Mayawati. However, the talks are in the initial stage only. Mayawati has extended outside support to the Manmohan Singh government at the Centre.
Mayawati’s party BSP is currently effective in UP, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Punjab. Congress wants to ease its way to victory in these states too by helping Mayawati. In 2009, the BJP won the maximum number of 21 Lok Sabha seats.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Bahujan Samaj Party got 3.62 percent in the entire country, while in 2014 this figure was 4.14 percent. Only in Uttar Pradesh, BSP got 19.43 percent votes in 2019. It was 2 percent more than Akhilesh Yadav’s party.
Many leaders within Mayawati’s party have advocated for an alliance. These leaders say that the alliance has been beneficial for the BSP. BSP leaders are giving data of 2019 and 2009 behind this.
Akhilesh is very angry with the way Mayawati took a stand after the 2019 elections.
Why the speculation about Sukhbir Badal’s arrival?
Sukhbir Badal’s party is active in Punjab politics. Earlier it was part of the NDA alliance, but in 2020, Badal broke ties with the BJP. The Akali Dal is said to be in touch with Nitish Kumar.
The position of the Akali Dal, which dominated the power of Punjab, has now become very weak. The party had won 2 seats in the 2019 elections, but the party lost badly in the assembly elections. Akali candidates could win only 3 seats.
The Akali Dal coming into the alliance is being seen as a strategy to shock the Aam Aadmi Party. The Akali Dal got 27 percent votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and 18 percent in the 2022 assembly elections.
If this vote is mixed with the Congress, then the percentage of votes received by AAP is much more. Both Akali Dal and Congress are opposing AAP in Punjab and BJP in Delhi.
Why talk of Om Prakash Chautala’s arrival?
Om Prakash Chautala’s party Indian National Lok Dal is active in Haryana politics. The first bugle of the opposition front was blown from INLD platform itself, but because of Congress, Om Prakash Chautala was not able to join the India alliance.
The recent upheaval in Haryana politics has forced the Congress to change its strategy. INLD was founded in 1996 by Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala. This party has a strong hold on the Jat voters of Haryana.
2014 Lok Sabha elections. Till 2019, INLD was the second largest party in the Haryana Legislative Assembly, but due to split in the family and the party, it is still in a very weak position.
Why the speculation about the arrival of Shetkari wale Raju Shetty?
Raju Shetty, who did farmers’ politics in Maharashtra, was once a part of the NDA alliance, but these days is in touch with Sharad Pawar and Uddhav. Recently, Raju Shetty accused the BJP of breaking the party.
According to sources, by including Raju Shetty in the Mumbai meeting, the opposition is trying to take a psychological edge. Raju Shetty has been a member of the Lok Sabha, he formed his party Swabhimani Shetkari in 2004.
In the same year, he managed to reach the house by winning the Maharashtra assembly elections. After this he contested and won the Lok Sabha elections.
In the politics of Maharashtra, the self-respecting party has a strong hold in Hatkangale, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Madha etc. The party has been raising the issues of sugarcane and cotton farmers from the beginning.
Why the speculation about Badruddin Ajmal’s arrival?
Lok Sabha MP Badruddin Ajmal’s party AIUDF does politics in Assam. Nitish Kumar initially wanted to include AIUDF in the India alliance, but Congress had vetoed it. Ajmal had also met Nitish Kumar to join the alliance.
After the delimitation in Assam, the calculations of many seats have changed from here to there, due to which the tension of the Congress high command has increased. Congress is now considering taking Ajmal in the India alliance. Ajmal’s party had also recently announced moral support to the India alliance.
Ajmal’s party dominates 3 out of 14 seats in Assam. AIUDF MLA Rafiqul Islam has said that the party is preparing to contest on Dhubri, Karimganj and Nagaon seats.
