Atishi, a minister in the Kejriwal government and AAP leader, said in a press conference on behalf of the party, “The provisions of the bill will not be implemented in 2024. BJP has no interest in the welfare of women.” He claimed that this is not a women’s reservation bill, but a bill to fool women."text-align: justify;">In fact, on Tuesday, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal presented the Narishakti Vandan Bill in the Lok Sabha related to providing one-third reservation to women in the lower house of Parliament, state assemblies and Delhi Assembly.

What was demanded?
Atishi further said that our demand is to remove the provisions of delimitation, census from the Women’s Reservation Bill and to implement reservation in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He said why the provisions of delimitation and census have been included? This means that women’s reservation will not be implemented before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. ’

He said that it takes at least a year to conduct the census. After this the delimitation process will start. If it takes 6 months to do delimitation in MCD, it will take one to two years in the entire country.

What did Raghav Chaddha say?
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chaddha asked many questions regarding the bill. He wrote on social media X, “According to clause 5 of the bill, it will be implemented only after delimitation and census.”"twitter-tweet">

Will bring women’s reservation but will not tell the date….

As per Clause 5 of the #WomenReservationBill, the reservation will kick in only AFTER a delimitation exercise and a fresh census – post the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty Eighth Amendment) Act, 2023.

Does this mean-
1. No reservation for Lok Sabha elections
2. The country and women will have to wait for the census and delimitation
3. This bill has been prepared without any frame for implementation.

Chadha said that we demand immediate implementation of women’s reservation without any delay.
