Parliament Special Session: A function will be organized in the Central Hall of Parliament on Tuesday (September 19) to remember the parliamentary heritage of the country and take a pledge to make India a developed nation by 2047. The ceremony was led by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
This ceremony of about one and a half hour will start and end with the national anthem. After that there will be lunch. After this the top leaders will take all the MPs to the new Parliament House.
A Rajya Sabha bulletin said, "Members of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha are requested to assemble in the Central Hall of Parliament on 19 September at 11 am to participate in a ceremony to remember the rich heritage of the Indian Parliament and resolve to make India a developed nation by 2047."
Maneka Gandhi will be the speaker
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi will deliver the welcome address at the function in the Central Hall and senior MPs will also address the occasion. Sources said BJP MP Maneka Gandhi, who is also the senior-most Lok Sabha member, will be the first speaker.
Manmohan Singh contacted
After Maneka Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has been contacted to address the function. However, sources close to Singh said that the former Prime Minister was not well for some time. In such a situation, he may not be present.
Shibu Soren’s address
The ceremony will also feature the address of senior MP Shibu Soren, whose combined experience of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha is more than any other member. Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Choudhary will also address the ceremony.
Women’s Reservation Bill can be introduced in the Lok Sabha
Sources said that the Prime Minister is also expected to take a copy of the Constitution to the Central Hall of Parliament during the ceremony. After that the Women’s Reservation Bill can be introduced in the Lok Sabha. A detailed discussion on the Women’s Reservation Bill will be held on Wednesday (September 20) and the government will try to get this bill passed on Wednesday itself.
Photo session in Old Parliament House
Before the ceremony in the Central Hall, photographs of three different groups will be taken in the courtyard of Old Parliament House. The first photograph will be of members of both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, the second of Rajya Sabha members and the third of Lok Sabha members. Let us tell you that the proceedings of Lok Sabha will start in the new building at 1.15 pm, while the meeting of Rajya Sabha will start at 2.15 pm.
