Budget Session: The deadlock between the government and the opposition continues, Privileges Committee may call Rahul Gandhi, Opposition parties will meet the President

Parliament Budget Session 2023: Uproar is going on in the Parliament for the last three days. Both the houses i.e. Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 11 am on Thursday (March 16), but even after this, the verbal war between BJP and Congress continued outside the house. While Congress and other opposition parties are attacking the central government on Adani issues, BJP is demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi for his statement on UK tour. Ten big things-

1. Opposition parties have intensified their activities to corner the Modi government on the issue of Adani Group investigation. All opposition parties for this President . Opposition parties can discuss in the meeting on Thursday (March 16) about when the President will meet Murmu. 

2. Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge told that a meeting will be held with like-minded parties on Thursday at his office in the Parliament complex. In this, the strategy of the opposition parties will be discussed in the House. 

3. Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary, on Wednesday (March 15) wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla against ‘government-sponsored disruptions’ in the House. Along with this, he urged the Lok Sabha Speaker to ensure that the opposition members get an opportunity to express their views in a fair manner. He also alleged that the mike on his desk was switched off for the last three days, confirming Rahul Gandhi’s statement that in India the mikes of opposition members are switched off.

4. In order to end the impasse between the government and the opposition in Parliament, Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar had called leaders of all parties to meet, in which Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge said that the ruckus was being created by the ruling party. 

5. There will be a meeting of the Committee of Privileges next week in the matter of breach of privilege against Rahul Gandhi. In the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi will give his statement in this matter. The complainants on this issue are Nishikant Dubey and Joshi. Rahul Gandhi will be called after the statement is recorded. In fact, both the BJP leaders have complained about Rahul Gandhi’s comment in the UK that the mikes are switched off while the opposition leaders are speaking in the House. 

6. Union Minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday (March 15) criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent remarks made in Britain. He said that India’s democracy is not in danger, but the way Rahul Gandhi has behaved abroad, he has pushed the opposition party towards political disaster. Irani alleged that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has turned into hatred towards India. He demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi. Recently, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the structure of Indian democracy is being ‘savagely attacked. 

7. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla told the MPs during the uproar that the house is for discussion. We should discuss policies and issues related to people. Parliament is the temple of democracy. It is not right to create ruckus in such a situation. 

8. Leaders of 16 opposition parties, including the Congress, took out a march from the Parliament House to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) headquarters on Wednesday (March 15), demanding an inquiry into the Adani Group case. During this, the police stopped him at Vijay Chowk itself. After this, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted sharing the letter mailed to the ED Director. In this, ED has been demanded to investigate the Adani case.

9. Other opposition parties including Congress are demanding JPC inquiry on Adani issue. On this, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi says that the opposition is doing all this to divert attention because their MPs know that what Rahul Gandhi has done is wrong. 

10. Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary said that BJP does not want JPC probe on Adani Group case because its real face will be visible. On the other hand, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said that we are understanding the problem of the opposition. Election is about to come, so they try to throw mud, but they do not know that lotus will bloom only in mud.
