Himanta Biswa Sarma further said that if a foreign national comes without passport and visa then it is a threat to our sovereignty. Anyone who has entered the country illegally, whether Rohingya or non-Rohingya, Hindu or Muslim, immigration is illegal and we cannot encourage it.

He said that the Director General of Police has already taken some steps to check this, while the Superintendent of Police, Karimganj, has been asked to step up vigil to prevent infiltration. And we should not just deport the infiltrators, but go to Tripura, arrest the touts and break the backbone of this gang.

The three districts of the Barak Valley region are Cachar, Karimgaz and Hailakandi. The CM said that 400 crime scene officers would be appointed in Assam, 250 patrolling stations would be upgraded to police stations and forensic labs would be set up in Silchar, Dibrugarh and Bongaigaon.
