Himanta Biswa Sarma On Child Marriage: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday (March 15) presented the government’s action plan against child marriage in the assembly. Told about the action plan, also said that the criminals will be arrested every six months. He said that child marriage has to be stopped in Assam. According to news agency ANI, CM Sarma even said, “There are two options – either remove me from here or stop child marriage, there is no third option.”

Chief Minister Sarma said, “We are crying for the criminals but not for the victimized minor girls. An 11-year-old minor girl has become a mother in the state, this is not acceptable. CM Sarma was addressing the house during the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address in the budget session of the Assam Legislative Assembly. He said that the roller of democracy will continue to run against criminals who marry girls. The CM said that rule of law will prevail against child marriage.
Chief Minister Sarma said, “The Population Control Act was passed during the Congress rule and our government is now trying to increase the age of marriage from 18 years to 21 years.
