Rajya Sabha MP Assets: Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) shared the criminal background and asset details of 225 out of 233 Rajya Sabha MPs. According to the ADR report, about 12 percent of the sitting MPs of Rajya Sabha are billionaires. Most of these include MPs from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Let us tell you that one seat is vacant in the current Rajya Sabha, while three MPs have not been analyzed because their affidavits were not available and four seats of Jammu and Kashmir are undefined. It has also been said in the report that the maximum number of billionaire MPs with assets of more than Rs 100 crore are from BJP. It is followed by Congress and YSRCP.
MPs with assets above Rs 100 crore
The report states, "5 out of 11 MPs from Andhra Pradesh (45 percent), 3 out of 4 MPs from Telangana (43 percent), 3 out of 19 MPs from Maharashtra (16 percent), 1 out of 3 MPs from Delhi (33 percent), Punjab 2 out of 7 MPs from MP (29 per cent), 1 out of 5 MPs from Haryana (20 per cent) and 2 out of 11 MPs from Madhya Pradesh (18 per cent) have declared assets of more than Rs 100 crore."
The total assets of 7 Members of Parliament (MPs) from Telangana is Rs 5,596 crore. The total assets of 11 MPs from Andhra Pradesh is Rs 3,823 crore and the total assets of 30 MPs from Uttar Pradesh is Rs 1,941 crore. In this, 6 out of 85 from BJP, 4 out of 30 from Congress, 4 out of 9 from YSR, 3 out of 10 from AAP, 3 out of 7 from TRS and 2 out of 6 from RJD are currently billionaires in Rajya Sabha.
Criminal cases in the affidavits of these MPs
Apart from this, 75 (33 per cent) out of 225 Rajya Sabha MPs have declared criminal cases against themselves. In addition, about 41 (18 per cent) Rajya Sabha MPs have declared serious criminal cases and two members have declared cases related to murder. Four Rajya Sabha MPs have declared cases related to crime against women.
BJP has about 23 (27 per cent) out of 85 Rajya Sabha MPs, Congress has 12 (40 per cent) out of 30 MPs, AITC has 4 (31 per cent) out of 13 MPs, AITC has 5 (83 per cent) MPs, There are criminal cases against him. RJD has 6 MPs, CPI(M) has 4 out of 5 MPs (80 per cent), AAP has 3 out of 10 MPs (30 per cent), YSRCP has 3 out of 9 MPs (33 per cent), and NCP has 2 (3 per cent). 67 per cent of Rajya Sabha MPs) have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.
