Action on PFI: NIA action in PFI case, one more arrested from Bihar

NIA Action Against PFI: The NIA told on Sunday that it has arrested one more person of Popular Front of India (PFI) in Bihar. NIA spokesperson said that Mohd Irshad Alam, a resident of Mehsi in Bihar’s East Champaran, was arrested from Phulwari Sharif near Patna and this is the 13th arrest.

Five PFI members were arrested on March 6

NIA spokesperson said that this success has come amid the busting of hawala network in South India and the arrest of five PFI members on March 6. The spokesperson further said that the arrest was made in the Phulwari Sharif PFI case with the cooperation of the Bihar Police. The case was registered in July following the arrest of four people on charges of terrorism and violence in the state, he said.

The ban was imposed in September last year

An official said, "Based on the leads found in the investigation, the NIA learned that despite the PFI being banned in September last year, its leaders and activists are involved in propagating its extremist violent ideology, as well as arranging arms and ammunition to commit crimes are doing."

Resolve to continue activities in secret 

The spokesperson said that the Phulwari Sharif (Patna) and Motihari cadres of PFI have resolved to continue their activities covertly in Bihar and arranged weapons to eliminate the youth of a particular community in East Champaran district.

The spokesperson said, Alam is close to the accused and PFI trainer Yakub Khan alias Usman alias Sultan, who had shared the objectionable videos on social media to spread communal disharmony.
