India has become the first country in the world to develop a country-level mathematical model to estimate the prevalence of Tuberculosis (TB) cases. Official sources gave this information on Tuesday. Sources said that using this model, TB case and mortality estimates for India will be available by March every year, months before the annual World Health Organization (WHO) estimates are released in October.
He told that in future, India too can prepare a similar estimate at the state level. Sources said that this model was presented to the representatives of 40 countries participating in the 36th ‘Stop TB Partnership Board’ meeting in Varanasi last week. Most of them appreciated it and said that they would like to implement it in their countries.
