New Delhi. Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film ‘Chupke Chupke’ was released in the year 1975. This was the second film of that year, in which the trio of Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan were seen. Earlier all of them were seen together in ‘Sholay’. Where these stars were seen in a different style in ‘Sholay’, the audience was very happy to see the comedy avatar of all of them in ‘Chupke Chupke’. It goes on to say that the film ‘Chupke Chupke’ was made as a remake of Bengali superstar Uttam Kumar and Madhavi Mukherjee’s film ‘Chhadmveshi’.
This film changed the image of Dharmendra-Amitabh. This was Dharmendra’s first comedy film. According to the reports of IMBD, when Hrishikesh Mukherjee was thinking about making this film, he had actress Asha Parekh in his mind. He had also promised Asha Parekh that whenever he would make a film, he would keep her in the lead role. Although this could not happen.
According to reports, when the film was being produced, Dharmendra was in high demand in those days. He was the superstar of that era. Things often happened according to him on the set of the film. Although Hrishikesh Mukherjee was a very strict filmmaker. It is said that he did not give exemption from Amitabh Bachchan to Dharmendra on the sets of the film. But Dharmendra used to take advantage of this because of being very close to him.
Asha Parekh sidelined from the film
It is said that because of Dharmendra, Asha Parekh could not become a part of this film even after wanting to. Dharmendra’s mind was on Sharmila Tagore in those days. He wanted to do this film with him only. So he talked to the director about this and changed the heroine of the film. Instead of Asha, Sharmila and Dharmendra romanced on screen. Asha never forgave the director for this. It is said that Dharmendra was ready to work only with Sharmila. He did not want to do this film with anyone else.
