This was the second film of that year, in which the trio of Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan were seen. Earlier all of them were seen together in ‘Sholay’. Where these stars were seen in a different style in ‘Sholay’, the audience was very happy to see the comedy avatar of all of them in ‘Chupke Chupke’. It goes on to say that the film ‘Chupke Chupke’ was made as a remake of Bengali superstar Uttam Kumar and Madhavi Mukherjee’s film ‘Chhadmveshi’.

Although Hrishikesh Mukherjee was a very strict filmmaker. It is said that he did not give exemption from Amitabh Bachchan to Dharmendra on the sets of the film. But Dharmendra used to take advantage of this because of being very close to him.

It is said that because of Dharmendra, Asha Parekh could not become a part of this film even after wanting to. Dharmendra’s mind was on Sharmila Tagore in those days. He wanted to do this film with him only. So he talked to the director about this and changed the heroine of the film. Instead of Asha, Sharmila and Dharmendra romanced on screen. Asha never forgave the director for this. It is said that Dharmendra was ready to work only with Sharmila. He did not want to do this film with anyone else.
