Akshay Kumar didn’t take a single penny for this film! Took big RISK, now looting accolades

Mumbai: Bollywood player Akshay Kumar is in headlines these days for his recently released film OMG 2. Even after five days of release, the film OMG 2 is earning strongly at the box office. Especially the subject of the film is being liked a lot. The film saw a huge increase in its earnings on Independence Day and earned Rs 17.10 crore from across the country. With this, OMG 2 has now crossed the Rs 70 crore mark at the box office. As the film inched closer to touching the Rs 100 crore mark, several reports claimed that the film was made on a budget of Rs 150 crore.

But, now the makers have made it clear that the film has not been made in a budget of 150 crores. Talking about this, producer Ajit Andhare has said that the budget of the film has been exaggerated. Viacom 18 COO Ajit Andhare told Pinkvilla that Akshay Kumar has not taken any fee for this film. Yes, the Khiladi of Bollywood has done OMG 2 for free.

He said- “The reports of the budget of OMG 2 are being shown in a very exaggerated way. but it’s not like that. Akshay Kumar has not charged even a single rupee for this film. On the contrary, he walked with us in both financial and creative risks during the entire film. We have been together for a long time. We have already worked together in films like OMG, Special 26 and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. We share a good bonding. I have been completely on board with him in taking up scripts that are unconventional, but convey some big and meaningful message. It was very difficult to take this risk without them. He dedicated himself to the film both creatively and financially.”

Talking about the budget of the film, a source close to Pinkvilla told that OMG 2 has been made on a budget of less than 50 crores. Let me tell you, OMG (2012) was also made at a controlled cost of Rs 25 crore only. OMG 2 is the sequel to OMG released in 2012, in which Paresh Rawal was in the lead role along with Akshay Kumar. In OMG, Akshay Kumar plays Lord Shiva’s messenger, who helps one of his devotees in difficult times. Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam are also in important roles in the film.
