IAS Mukund Kumar Success Story: Getting success in UPSC exam is not an easy task. To be successful in this exam, the candidate has to work hard. Today we will tell you the story of an IAS officer who succeeded in this examination at a very young age. We are talking about Mukund, an officer who cleared the UPSC exam at the age of 22. Mukund had secured 54th rank in the 2019 examination.
Even though Mukund had passed the UPSC exam in the first attempt, it took years of preparation behind it. He had started preparing for the last several years to pass the examination. Mukund has studied 12th from Sainik School, Assam. Whereas he has done graduation in English Literature from Delhi University. He says that it is very important to have the right reason behind choosing civil services. This gives motivation to the candidate. He says that preparation for the exam takes a lot of time, hence motivation is very important.
What advice do you give?
Mukund says that preparation for UPSC exam should be integrated. Pre exam is very important. If the candidates are not able to pass it then there is no point in further preparations. Therefore, when candidates start preparation, keep Pre, Mains and Interview in mind. When the time for pre-exam approaches, focus on it. There should be a dedicated time of at least 6 months for pre-exam. Mukund says that it takes two years to prepare well for the exam. They advise the candidates to read and revise all the subjects as per the syllabus. He says that one must give mock tests and practice answer writing.
