Prayagraj: Prayagraj Police of Uttar Pradesh has filed a charge sheet in a court here on Friday against Sadakat Khan, accused in the murder of Umesh Pal and his two security personnel. In a statement issued by the police, it was said that the 90-day judicial custody period of Sadaqat Khan, accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, is ending on May 27, 2023. According to the statement, a charge sheet has been filed against the accused Sadaqat Khan in the court on Friday.
District Government Advocate Gulab Chandra Agrahari said that in the case of the murder of Umesh Pal and his two gunners, Jaya Pal, Umesh’s wife, lodged an FIR under sections 147, 148, 149, 302, 307, 506, 34, 120B and 120B of the Indian Penal Code at the Dhumanganj police station. The case was registered under section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act.
He told that in this case, the charge sheet was filed by the investigator against only one accused Sadakat Khan on Friday. He told that the date of June 9, 2023 has been fixed for hearing in this case by the Honorable SC/ST (Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe) Law Court.
It is notable that Ghazipur resident Sadakat Khan was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) from the Muslim hostel of Allahabad University after his name cropped up in conspiring to kill Umesh Pal. The main witness of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Raju Pal murder case, Umesh Pal and his two gunners were shot dead on February 24, 2023. The next day of the incident, on the Tahrir of Umesh Pal’s wife Jaya Pal, a case was registered against the mafia Atiq Ahmed, brother Ashraf, wife Shaista Parveen, Atiq’s two sons, Atiq’s accomplices Guddu Muslim and Ghulam, nine other accomplices at Dhumanganj police station. .
Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead on April 15, 2023 in police custody, among the main accused in the massacre. At the same time, Atiq’s son and named accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, Asad was killed in an encounter with the STF. Shaista Parveen, wife of Atiq Ahmed named in Umesh Pal murder case and Guddu Muslim are absconding.
