Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad was handed over to the earth, but the soil in his father’s hand

The body of Asad Ahmed, son of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, was buried on Saturday morning at the Kasari-Masari cemetery in Prayagraj amid tight security arrangements. Asad Ahmed and his accomplice Ghulam Mohammed were killed in an encounter with the UP STF on 13 April. Asad was the main accused in the Umesh Pal murder case and was absconding since the incident. Atiq Ahmed could not attend the son’s funeral.

Assad handed over amid heavy security
Prayagraj’s ACP Akash Kulhari said that before the dead body of gangster Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad was brought to Prayagraj for the last rites, security arrangements were increased near Atiq Ahmed’s house. 20-25 people of Asad family were present here. Ghulam’s body has been taken to another place for the last rites. When the process of Assad’s burial was being carried out, Assad’s maternal grandfather remained present there. Prayagraj’s SP Crime Satish Chandra said that Asad was buried today, our team is stationed at his house. Force was also deployed in the locality and the cemetery. We got all the procedures done peacefully. All the family members who came were allowed.

Asad’s encounter took place in Jhansi
Umesh Pal, who was a key witness in the murder case of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Raju Pal, and his two security personnel were killed in a rapid firing in Prayagraj on February 24 this year. Asad Ahmed and Ghulam, the wanted accused in this case, were killed in an encounter with the Special Task Force in Jhansi on Thursday. This incident took place when Atiq and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were being produced in a court in Prayagraj.

No close family member seen
Only relatives and acquaintances of Atiq Ahmed were allowed to enter the cemetery and media persons were not allowed inside. The ambulance carrying Asad’s body reached the cemetery at around 9 am amid heavy security. Assad’s uncle Usman was with the dead body in the ambulance. The process of burying the dead body at Kasari Masari cemetery took about an hour. During this, no close member of Atiq Ahmed and his family was seen. A large number of police forces were deployed around the cemetery.

Mafia Atiq Ahmed could not attend son’s funeral
On Friday, through his lawyer, Atiq Ahmed had given an application to the magistrate to attend his son’s funeral, which was to be decided in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate on Saturday, but before the court proceedings, the body was handed over to the magistrate. The burial process is complete. Asad was the third son of Atiq Ahmed’s five sons and Umesh Pal was absconding since the murder. Atiq’s eldest son Umar is lodged in Lucknow Jail, while his younger son Ali is lodged in Naini Central Jail. While the fourth son Ahjam and the youngest son Aban are in the Child Improvement Home of Prayagraj.

Assad buried close to grandparents’ grave
In the Umesh Pal murder case, Atiq Ahmed’s wife Shaista Parveen and his brother Ashraf Ahmed’s wife Zainab are also absconding. That’s why no member of Atiq’s family could attend Asad’s funeral. Janu Khan, who dug Asad’s grave in the Kasari Masari cemetery, told that Asad’s grave has been dug near the graves of Atiq Ahmed’s mother and his father.
