Ambedkar Jayanti 2023 Events: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s 132nd birth anniversary was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country on Friday (April 14). President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi paid tributes to Babasaheb in the Parliament House complex.

Many leaders recalled Ambedkar’s efforts for the upliftment of the marginalized sections of the society while on the other hand many leaders stressed the need to build strong institutions and create an egalitarian society.

KCR unveils Babasaheb’s statue

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao unveiled a 125-feet tall statue of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar in Hyderabad on Friday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the architect of the Constitution. The statue has been built using 360 tonnes of pure steel and 114 tonnes of bronze at a cost of Rs 146.50 crore.

Flowers were showered on the Ambedkar statue by helicopter. CM KCR said that India’s tallest statue of Ambedkar will inspire people every day and inspire the entire state administration. The statue is located next to the State Secretariat and the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial.

Significantly, social reformer, economist and jurist Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891 in Mhow city. Mhow in Madhya Pradesh has been named Dr. Ambedkar Nagar in his memory.

Goa government accords state level status to Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations 

The Government of Goa decided to give state-level status to the celebrations held every year on the occasion of Baba Saheb’s birth anniversary and acquired land to build a building dedicated to him. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that at present the function is organized in collaboration with the State Social Welfare Department and like-minded organizations. He said, “I announce that the celebrations of Ambedkar Jayanti will be given state-level status from next year.”
